What next after your graduation ?
In this post, I would like to give some options or idea what to do next after your graduation. They are many definitions on graduation, but in this post let say graduation means “a day after you have completed your final examinations”.
I believe 2-3 months before your graduation, you have an idea what to do right whether to work, further studies etc. Whatever your plan is, you still need to do something. Based on my experience and observation, I list down some options that you can consider :
1. Certification Letter & Academic transcript
This letter issued by University for you to use when you applying for a job or anything that require your status as graduate. Academic transcript is a summary of your final result.
2. Sponsorship Status
If you were sponsored by any organization, arrange for meeting with them. Ask what you can expect after your graduation. Sponsor very often never promise any job for scholars ! Get release letter if necessary.
3. English Communication
Get your self enroll to any extensive English Course if you think that your communication skill need to be improved. Of course English cannot be improved overnight, but at least this shows that you serious about it and as employer, they tend to like this type of candidates. A course by British Council, of which I think still the best.
4. Further studies
I don’t have any statistic on this option, but many people opt for these in local universities or overseas. You can apply online or offline. But be careful on the accreditation. Check with JPA or LAN first. In case you need sponsorship, visit Malaysia-scholarship.net.
5. Career Fair
We have many careers fair either conducted by universities or third party. Get your self involve. During this event, many talk/workshop normally will be arranged for you for free. So don’t miss it. Get updates here.
6. Register with Recruitment Agency/ Head hunter
In this era, many companies going for online recruitment. So get yourself registered now and apply for the job immediately. Alternatively, walk in to their office to register. Click HERE for list of Recruitment Portal/Agency/Head Hunter.

7. PROSPER
Many agency were established by government to encourage graduates to involve in business, PROSPER is one of them. Explore the opportunity offers by PROSPER.

Industrial Career Exposition 2008 (ICE 2008)
Jobseekers !. Good news to you all. For the first time Industrial Career Exposition 2008 (ICE 2008) will be jointly organised by UNISEL and MEF (Malaysian Employers Federation). During this 3 days programme from 6 June - 8 June 2008, participating companies, organizations and NGOs will exhibit their products, career opportunities and even participate in career talks and conduct interviews.
In general, ICE 2008 aims at providing jobseekers and the unemployed graduates access with information and make contact with potential employers to obtain better employment opportunities.

My 2 cents
In view that this programme is organised by MEF, I would expect many companies will contribute and participate thus give better opportunity to jobseekers. The reason is very simple, MEF is like a union for employer, so everybody of course will give their full support. Anyway, we just wait and see….
