Interview experience at Proton Holdings Berhad
I was called by Proton Holding for interview in June last year at Centre of Excellence, Subang Jaya. At that time I believe more than 200 candidates turned up for walk-in-interview of which many of them read from the Star regarding the day event and few through call invitation.
I can’t remember actually the date I applied for the position of Engineer in Proton. The day starts with registration and later on an Officer briefed us on the programme of which we have to sit for an IQ test called Raven Test and those passes will accordingly be interviewed.
Before the Raven Test, another officer briefed us on what to do and how to answer the IQ test. In each test item, one is asked to find the missing pattern in a series. Each set of items gets progressively harder, requiring greater cognitive capacity to encode and analyze. There are a total of 60 test which should be completed in 45 minutes. The result were made known to the candidate after 15 minutes and later we wait for our interview.
The panel of interviewer comprises of 2 person 1 from HR another 1 from Engineering Design. The question asked is more on our achievement, experience, job satisfaction, about the job etc. Since I have strong interest in engineering design, and I have the CATIA V5 knowledge plus my valuable industrial experience in engineering design department at Perodua, most of the question I managed to answer confidently.
Subsequently, 1 week after the first interview I received a call from HR where the Head Of Engineering Design want to meet you before made final decision. I then met him at his office and its not really an interview but more to knowing each other and to know what best for me since they have few unit under ED like chassis, body, etc.
A week later, I finally been offered an Engineer, Engineering Design with a salary of RM2,400, and transport allowance of RM50.

Susah ke raven test? Dengar ramai yang fail…saya akan attend one day… please give some advise…
can i get some tips about what engineering design is all about? and what they ask during interview?
They are few dept in Proton required Engineering Design. You need to have knowledge in CATIA V5 to perform this job. Proton has dept like Engineering Design to do engineering design for body, interior, suspension etc,
